The vast majority of Twyfordians leave for senior school after Year 8 (13+), most of them to board. There is a wide choice of schools offering day or boarding and co-education or single sex schooling; in the last five years boys and girls have progressed to over 40 different schools, mainly those within a 60 to 90 minute drive from Winchester. We have a limited number of good day schools in the vicinity, and a very good record of placing children here as well as further afield.
The School prides itself on its experience in helping parents choose the best senior school for their son or daughter and in navigating their way through the labyrinth of entrance requirements, assessments, interviews and scholarships. We begin in Year 4 with a presentation to all parents by the Headmaster, followed up with individual appointments.
Twyford School pupils contribute heartily and with great enthusiasm to the full life of their senior schools. We frequently hear of their major contributions to the richness of their new environment. This endorses the outlook that we have for them while they are with us at Twyford.
Schools that we send pupils to most frequently include: Bedales, Benenden, Bradfield, Bryanston, Canford, Charterhouse, Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Downe House, Eton, Godolphin, King’s Canterbury, King Edward VI Southampton, Lord Wandsworth College, Marlborough, Millfield, Portsmouth Grammar, Radley, Rugby, St Edward’s Oxford, St Mary’s Ascot, St Mary’s Calne, St Swithun’s, Sherborne Boys, Sherborne Girls, Wellington, Winchester College, Wycombe Abbey.
