When asked what they miss most after leaving Twyford, most pupils (and staff!) will say the food. Twyford’s food is freshly made, delicious, plentiful and sourced locally. A lively, contented hum resonates throughout the Dining Room at meal times. ‘Bird Seed’ is made to Chef Dean’s secret recipe and on chicken pie day there is no shortage of takers when “seconds and thirds” are offered!
Dean Wilkins, in partnership with Sodexo, has led our catering team for 13 years. The children love that the dinner ladies know all their names and are the first to kick off the drum roll celebrations on birthdays! The team creates delicious menus that ensure each child has a balanced, enriched and healthy diet. The weekly menus place great emphasis on supporting local suppliers and whenever possible sourcing ingredients within Hampshire.
Children and staff eat lunch together in our cafeteria-style dining room where hot and cold buffet bars and a fresh fruit stall are available.
Dean and his team regularly stage themed events – Chinese New Year, French day, American day where everyone has the opportunity to try new or traditional foods. The boarders enjoy a weekly barbeque on a summer’s evening.
Nursery and Pre-Prep also have lunch in the Dining Room, served at their tables, where they enjoy the same menus as the Prep School. This familiarity and consistency helps with their transition into the Prep School after Year 2.
Served in the Mulberry Pavilion, our match teas are infamous for the food and creative displays! The scrumptious selection of freshly baked cakes and delicious array of sandwiches welcome parents for some post match chatter.
