| Twyford School is a family school. This has two facets. Firstly,
we welcome families to the School and hope that firm ties can
be established. Although assessments are taken to gain entry,
every effort is made to accommodate siblings who would thrive
in Twyford's environment. Secondly, the School is small enough
to treat children as part of an extended family, as well as
encouraging them to develop their individuality.
There is a strong pastoral strand running throughout the
School linked to the House system. Each pupil is placed in
a House: Bedford House (“Bees”), Heywood House
(“Hornets”), Mason House (“Mosquitoes”)
or Wickham House (“Wasps”). Each has a staff team
of Head of House and House Tutors who comprise the primary
pastoral team. All pupils have a personal tutor who is their
form teacher in Years 4 and 5; thereafter, they are assigned
a House Tutor. The tutors are often the first port of call
for a concern or celebration.
