We have enjoyed a number of festive moments this week: including the Inter-House Christmas Tree Decorating Competition (won by Wasps) – with hundreds of Christmas jumpers being worn, Reception’s very wriggly Nativity, Reception’s Christmas Craft afternoon, Nursery’s Christmas Play and Year 3’s Christmas Show. Some additional events of a non-festive kind were: Year 1’s visit to Minstead Study Centre, Year 4 had an Egyptian morning, Year 6 enjoyed a great theatre trip to see ‘The Borrowers’, Nursery to Year 3 watched ‘Snow White’ performed by the Treehouse Theatre, and Karl Hopwood delivering Internet Safety talks to children in Years 4 to 8, plus one for parents.
Along the way we have nearly concluded this term’s house sports competitions, with only the senior girls’ hockey to be played on Saturday. In the Prep House Competition for this term, Wasps have come out as winners, closely followed by Mozzies, with Bees and Hornets taking the remaining places. The Team Feast takes place this afternoon during Bevers.
One particularly special event was the official opening of the Pre-Prep playground by Ross Brawn, MD of Motorsport. A very significant crowd gathered on Thursday afternoon, in very chilly conditions, to share this event. Mr Brawn was generous with his time, and stopped to chat to many children (and adults). Some children were heard to ask why the playground was being ‘opened’ now, when they had already been playing on it for ten weeks!
Before we look towards the final week of this long term, we have the last Headmaster’s Drop-In session on Saturday morning (8.15 am – 8.45 am in the Sports Pavilion), and an afternoon of rugby training and house hockey. Details of the Carol Services have been sent out to parents, with Pre-Prep enjoying their service on Thursday, and Prep having their two services on Friday.
May I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday.
