The Royal Academy Young Artists Summer Show 26.08.2019

Many congratulations to Amelia, now in Year 8, whose sculpture was entered by the Art Department into the inaugural Young Artists Summer Show, which was held alongside the Royal Academy’s Summer Show. 6,200 entries were whittled down to 139 pieces of work to be shown in the Summer Show. Filled with inspiring artworks by talented young artists aged 7-19 the selected artists also had their work exhibited online. Amelia’s ‘Chairmen’ started life as a Summer holiday project in 2018. With a brief to ‘upcycle an old chair with a connection to an artist’ Amelia chose Giacommeti to inspire her work and created the men out of recycled materials found at the local tip! Wire, old newspaper to make papier mache and paint.

Huge congratulations to Amelia for such a fantastic achievement.
