All children have gifts and talents, and we strive to develop and realise them through our academic curriculum.  The curriculum challenges and excites, encouraging children to have high expectations of self and others.

In the Pre-Prep, from the age of three, children are introduced to the core subjects of English, mathematics, science which are supported by establishing the foundations of French,  religious studies, physical education, history, geography,  PSHE, ICT, music, drama, art and design and cookery.  This academic breadth continues in the Prep School with Latin added in Year 5.   Learning throughout the school is supported by pupils actively engaging in modern technology such as tablets and Chromebooks, as well as desktop computers provided in our dedicated ICT suite.

The learning experience at Twyford is encompassing and bespoke. Every care is taken to understand the changing needs of your child whether a child is a potential scholar or needing a little extra help through our Learning Support Department or a few booster sessions in handwriting, reading, spelling or maths.  With a longer day and week we pack in so much that is of value to children at this stage. From the summer term of Year 4 all pupils do their Prep at school, and on Saturdays we have morning lessons and sports matches in the afternoon.

Pupils are extremely well educated, in line with the school’s aims to develop each individual’s strengths and to engender a love of learning…They are curious about their surroundings, express themselves clearly and learn how to take risks safely in outdoor activities.
