Sport

Sport to enjoy, sport for all and a great choice of sports –  that’s part of life at Twyford. Enjoyment, teamwork and good grace are our pillars.  Enthusiasm, honesty and always giving your best are at the centre of our sporting ethos and each paves the way to create supportive and successful teams at every level.

We have many high-level achievers, as is reflected in the number of children that gain county positions, often in more than one sport, and who are also regularly awarded Sports Scholarships to their senior schools. Most importantly, though, all of our children, whatever their ability, are given the opportunity to share in the enjoyment and satisfaction that sport promotes at every level.

At Twyford, sport plays an integral part of the wider curriculum and we offer a full and balanced sports and extra-curricular activities programme. Every age group enjoys weekly PE lessons in our modern Sports Hall and swimming lessons in our indoor, heated pool.  Our annual sports calendar includes rugby, netball, cricket, hockey, football, cross country and athletics. In addition to this, we also offer a range of diverse sports that include water polo, cross-country, cricket and rugby.

We have 6 exceptional sports pitches, including an Astro-turf pitch, a new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and excellent training facilities in our beautiful 30 acres of grounds.  There is also a very popular adventure playground which is full of children climbing, swinging and balancing at break times.

Sport is part of a balanced education. All children at Twyford are encouraged to participate at the level which suits them, and they will have the opportunity to get involved in school teams and inter-house sports competitions during the course of each academic year. Whatever their ability, our goal is that all pupils enjoy their sport through the provision of outstanding coaching and training to help them recognise and develop their full potential. This approach of providing sporting opportunities for all goes towards creating an environment where every child can progress.
