100TH PUPIL TAKING PART IN THE GRANGE FESTIVAL OPERA 05.07.2023

Sunday 2nd July saw the final production of Queen of Spades closing the 2023 Grange Festival.

Over the last decade 100 pupils from Twyford have taken part in a great range of operas at the Grange, amongst them the Queen of Spades, Oliver, Albert Herring and Macbeth. The children immerse themselves in this wonderful opportunity and experience of working with a professional opera company, involving rehearsals through the Summer term in London and finally moving to the Grange for rehearsals and the performances themselves.

This year, 12 Twyford School pupils took part in the opening scene of ‘The Queen of Spades’ which received has 5 star reviews from many publications.  The children even enjoyed a curtain call on Sunday night much to the pride of the School!

To celebrate this landmark of our 100th pupil being involved, the School invited all families and Twyford alumni of the Grange to take part in a gorgeous evening of drinks, picnics and performance.

Our thanks to the Grange for their hospitality and beautiful setting.

All children at Twyford School have a class music lesson throughout their School journey from Nursery to Year 8 and 75% of children learn an individual instrument. The junior and senior choirs produce wonderful music, along with the string orchestra and wind bands. The Music Gala on the last day of the Summer term showcases their talent.

Twyford School is winner of the Best of the Best “Great for Music” in the 2023 Week Magazine’s Independent Schools Guide.
