TWYFORD’S BUDDING MATHEMATICIANS! 09.02.2023

Last week, four Year 5s and six Year 6s took part in a maths challenge at Portsmouth Grammar School and Eagle House School. The challenge is hosted by the wonderful Douglas Buchanan, a retired maths teacher, who tours the country facilitating competition between the top mathematicians from nearby schools. The children compete in pairs and undertake a variety of different tasks that test the speed and accuracy of their arithmetic as well as their ability to problem solve and think laterally. Out of 33 pairs at Portsmouth Grammar School, we are very pleased to announce that Sion and William came 1st! Out of the 70 pairs competing at Eagle house, Twyford did very well with Javier and Xavier ranking 13th and Sid and Shuyuan ranking 21st – an excellent achievement and a really enjoyable experience for these children.
