Guided by a dedicated House Team, we’ve created a true home away from home: a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, valued, and free to be themselves.

Set within its own beautiful grounds of 3 acres, Orchard Close - our purpose-built Boarding House - sits adjacent to the main school and offers a modern, bright and comfortable space that children are proud to call their own.  

With 16 en-suite rooms sleeping between three and eight boarders, alongside a boarders’ kitchen, games room, music practice room, and dedicated art space, it’s the perfect setting for fun, friendship, and growing independence. 

Surrounded by outdoor space and nature, it invites adventure and active play throughout the year. Every evening echoes with laughter and the buzz of shared experience. From themed house nights and hot chocolate reading sessions to garden games and creative play, our boarding house is filled with moments that help children grow into kind, resilient, and independent young people. Highlights have included a Western rodeo evening complete with a bucking bronco, and a Quidditch-themed night featuring broomstick races, a golden snitch hunt, and a surprise appearance from our Head of Boarding in full costume, providing plenty of amusement for everyone.

At the heart of boarding life are our values: kindness, respect, honesty, trust, and community - values which are woven into daily life, helping to shape confident, grounded individuals. Whether it’s a quiet moment of reassurance or the excitement of a silent disco, our Boarding Team ensures every child feels seen, heard, and ready to thrive - at Twyford and beyond.

Our flexi-boarding model adds to the energy and inclusivity of our community. Weekly activities span from dodgeball and futsal to cupcake baking, karaoke, and the ever-popular Twyford Bake Off. Themed events like the Lilo Olympics in the pool, pirate treasure hunts, and “Cops and Robbers” nights spark imagination and build teamwork.

Boarding at Twyford prepares children for the next step with confidence and maturity. Our Boarding Team and Matrons offer exceptional care and guidance, helping children to develop the independence and self-assurance that will serve them well as they transition to senior school.

We are also deeply committed to supporting mental health and wellbeing. Initiatives such as the Kindness Wall, mindfulness colouring, and friendship bracelet making during Anti-Bullying Week help our boarders reflect on empathy, compassion, and the power of community.

Trial boarding weeks have welcomed over 70 new children to experience life at Orchard Close - an adventure that has included stargazing sessions with real astrophysicists, pumpkin carving, and plenty of unforgettable moments.
