Food & Menus

At Twyford, food and nutrition are woven into the rhythm of daily life. Our outstanding catering team provides children with meals that are both nourishing and delicious, giving them the energy giving them the energy they need to learn, play, and thrive throughout the day.

We take a holistic approach to food, focusing on fresh, high-quality, and wherever possible, locally sourced ingredients. From Nursery through to the upper years, pupils are introduced to an exciting variety of flavours, aromas and textures. In our bright and lively Dining Room, children can enjoy a choice of three hot dishes each day, including a vegetarian option, alongside a vibrant salad bar with meats, fish and colourful salads.

Food at Twyford is part of the rhythm of the School day - a chance to pause, refuel and feel a sense of belonging.

Pre-Prep children are served at the table, while in Prep the pupils enjoy the independence of a buffet-style service. Meals are shared with friends and teachers, making them a social as well as a nourishing part of the day.

The voice of the pupils is important too. Each term, the Boarders’ Food Committee meets with our Catering Manager to review menus and offer feedback. The popularity of the dishes has even led to the creation of The Twyfoodian, our own school cookbook, which features 76 much-loved recipes and stories from the heart of our kitchen.

Above all, we want children to develop a positive and curious relationship with food - one that inspires them to try new things, explore flavours, and enjoy mealtimes together. We are committed to creating an environment where food is more than just nourishment: it is an invitation to discover, to share, and to continually challenge and delight their taste buds.
