TWYFORD Cookery school
In its own dedicated space within the Creative Centre, the Twyford Cookery School is inspiring budding chefs and igniting a love of food and cooking.
Nestled alongside the Art, Digital Learning, and Design, Technology & Engineering departments, the Cookery School forms part of a vibrant hub of creativity at the heart of the School. This dedicated facility marks a significant milestone in our commitment to culinary education.

At Twyford, we believe that learning to cook is about far more than recipes. Developing cookery skills at a young age builds creativity, confidence and independence, while embedding vital life skills and a lifelong enjoyment of food.
Children across the Prep School have been enjoying exciting taster sessions, sparking enthusiasm for food and giving them the chance to explore new skills.
From September, weekly timetabled cookery lessons for every year group (Years 3-8) became part of the curriculum, ensuring every child can discover the joys of cooking and develop essential culinary skills as part of their learning journey. Learning cookery skills at a young age embeds these vital skills and tools, giving pupils confidence, independence, and a lifelong enjoyment of food.
Beyond the classroom, cookery is proving hugely popular. The After-School Cookery Club is thriving, and the subject now also features on the Saturday Activity Programme. Holiday activity days at the Cookery School offer children the chance to enjoy a full day of hands-on cookery - preparing and savouring their own lunch before baking delicious treats to take home.
The Cookery School is equipped with 9 electric ovens and 9 induction hobs, allowing a class of 18 children to work in pairs. An interactive smart board enables teachers to demonstrate techniques and step-by-step methods, ensuring a rich and engaging learning experience.
The launch of the Cookery School also coincided with the release of the second edition of our much-loved school cookbook, The Twyfoodian. Celebrating 76 favourite recipes and stories from the heart of our kitchen, this edition supports our partnerships programme, with all proceeds benefiting local communities.
At Twyford, we believe that learning to cook is about far more than recipes: it’s about creativity, confidence, independence, and a lifelong enjoyment of food.
