IT'S ALL HERE

It all starts here | Pre-Prep is the heart of where it all starts: the first step on a child’s Twyford path. These years are rich with wonder, discovery and joy, yet thoughtfully grounded in purpose. Childhood is cherished here, while curiosity is ignited through meaningful play, outdoor adventure, immersive experiences and exceptional teaching. At Twyford Pre-Prep, we nurture curious minds, confident voices and a deep sense of belonging. Every moment is designed to help children question, explore, imagine and grow, laying the foundations for character, independence and a lifelong love of learning. |
The Pre-Prep at Twyford is the foundation block of the School; full of energy, enthusiasm and laughter it is a thriving hub of activity where every day offers the children new experiences and challenges.
Nestled within the School’s grounds, the Pre-Prep buildings are surrounded by lots of outdoor space and boasts unparalleled play facilities in the extensive playground. A fleet of pedal cars can be raced around the racetrack; an orchestra of outdoor instruments provide great noise and climbing frames, balancing bars and a large open games area mean that there is something for everyone.
Our focus is to nurture children’s natural curiosity about their surroundings and about learning by encouraging them to be adventurous so they can flourish in an active, outdoor, creative and academic environment.
We celebrate everyone’s achievements no matter how large or small.
LIFE WITHIN PRE-PREP
Curiosity | While Pre-Prep has its own identity and space, we are very much part of the wider school, giving our children the best of both worlds. They benefit from access to the Prep School’s superb facilities - dining in the main hall, swimming in the pool, and enjoying dance, drama and music in the beautiful Mulberry Pavilion. Specialist teaching starts early, with subjects such as French, gymnastics, music, games and cookery introduced from Nursery. Our children also take part in a range of exciting extras, from ballet, tap and modern dance to joining the choir, ukulele group or bell choir, with many beginning individual instrumental lessons too. |
TRIPS & ADVENTURES
Learning
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
From Nursery Oaks to Year 2, our children regularly climb aboard our fleet of minibuses and set off on adventures near and far, each journey offering a new opportunity to learn beyond the classroom.
Half termly trips take them to local nature reserves, museums, theatres and beaches, as well as to inspiring places such as St Catherine’s Hill, Gilbert White’s House, the Sustainability Centre and Avon Beach in Mudeford. Whether they are exploring rock pools, discovering history, watching performances or delving into environmental topics, these experiences bring learning to life in meaningful and memorable ways, sparking curiosity and a sense of wonder about the world around them.
